We have been offered a space with the Dennis F8 at this year’s Commercial Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham. The show runs from Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th April and the organisers have agreed to foot the bill for both the exhibition space and the transportation to and from the NEC.
To assist with getting the appliance ready for the show, I am asking for as many volunteers as possible to come along to Cowcaddens Fire Station on Tuesday 8th April at 19.00hrs and help with cleaning gear etc. If you can spare some time then come along.
Bob Wright,
Chairman.

The Commercial Vehicle Show, NEC Birmingham.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all who assisted in getting the Dennis F8 ready for its participation in the Commercial Show at the NEC Birmingham. The event was a complete success with a great deal of interest being shown in the appliance.
My thanks also go to Dave Adam and Eddie Gray who flew the flag for Strathclyde Fire Brigade Preservation Group, to Bob Bonner and Geoff Bottomley of the Rochdale Fire Museum, to Pat Murfin of the Friends of the Fire Services Museum Trust and to Colin Lamb and Ian Forrester of the West Mids Community Heritage Group.
This whole exercise was another excellent example of ‘Mutual Assistance’ within the member Groups of the Fire Heritage Network UK.
Thanks also go to Jim Smith of Kerr & Smith who supplied the transportation to and from the NEC, and to Dave Watt the driver, for his expertise in getting the F8 there and back safely.
Well done to all involved.
Bob Wright,
Chairman,
Strathclyde Fire Brigade Preservation Group.

Hello
1 July, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
To all our members.
I would like to thank all those who took part in the highly successful Preston Hall event. We went there with 7 appliances and 5 of them – the Austin Gipsy, Fire Warrior, Jim Smiths’s T.L. and Davie McAusland’s Landrover, won prizes, in addition to the Best Overall Trophy won by the Dennis F8.
A lot of hard work went into getting the vehicles there and then presenting them in show condition.
My thanks goes to all involved for a great team effort not only for this weekend but for all the events and shows we have attended so far this year.
Bob Wright,
Chairman.

Dilbert the Fearless Earless Firefighting Mannequin would like to thank all members of the Preservation Group who expressed their concern and best wishes following the injury he sustained at the Old Greenock Fire Station Open Doors day at the weekend.
I have the pleasant task of informing you all that Dilbert underwent Radical surgery at the private practice of “Dr Does That Guy never Smile” AKA Dr Giggles-AKA “Does that Handbrake work ok”
Dilbert’s ear was re-grafted into position and held in place with an unorthodox but safe surgical adhesive.
Sadly Dilbert will never be that handsome chap we all know and respect as he has significant scarring around the injury.
In true grit Brigade style !! Dilbert did not utter one work during the surgery and refused all medication prior to and following his operation.
However, I am assured that the master of “Make Up” Mr. Adams is going to teach Dilbert how to apply some foundation cream to the injured area to disguise the scarring.
I am further informed that the foundation cream Mr Adams is going to use on Dilbert will be of a much better quality that the one he himself uses. Then again, I think he gets his by the truckload from Blue Circle or Portland!!!
All the best Dilbert !!!! Hope to see you backtogether again Next Year !!!
PS. Once you get you arms and hands reattached, Perhaps you could drop us a message to let us know how you are getting on. Hopefully, you won’t be stuck in the same position again….

Quite agree meg. You would have thought that after 11 months of trying, the previous keepers of the site would have managed something better than a crap front page.
